This a key role that will have both administrative and sample testing and reporting duties. The positions are PT (30 hours/week). POSITION OVERVIEW: Working with human subjects, Associate Scientists assist Study Directors in performing in-vitro and in-vivo studies for the qualitative and quantitative assessment of topical antiseptics or antimicrobial household products to determine product effectiveness and are involved in many aspects of disinfectant effectiveness testing. MAJOR/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Through a thorough understanding of clinical tests and test protocols, Associate Scientists work directly with human test subjects, handling both administrative duties, as well as facilitating clinical tests and recording data from observations.Associate Scientists are responsible for explaining clinical trials to test subjects and obtaining subject consents, applying test products to subjects, and for collecting and testing bacterial samples from human skin. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES: Prepare necessary standards, solutions, reagents, media, etc., required for sample analyses.Regularly interact with human test subjects; Ensure subjects fully understand the clinical trial; Administer test samples.Collect, test and record baseline sample tests, and repeat the collection and testing process after test sample has been administered.Perform serial ten-fold dilutions; Plating of samples by spread plate, pour plate or filter method.Perform inoculum counts, initial counts/carrier counts, neutralizer effectiveness, viability, and sterility controls.Steam sterilize contaminated waste and spent media for disposal; Steam sterilize prepared media and clean material and supplies for use in the laboratory.Safely operate steam generators and dispense media.Record observations and maintain accurate and clearly legible clinical logs, registers and ledgers.Accurately enter data into computerized software systems.
