The eligible candidate will lead, oversee, and participate in the more complex and difficult work of staff / contractors responsible for performing a variety of duties in support of the assigned Department’s tolling operations and services including those involved in constructing, repairing, installing, and maintaining tolling systems. Responsibilities: Leads, plans, trains, and reviews the work of staff responsible for performing a variety of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled duties in support of the assigned Department’s tolling operations and services including those involved in constructing, repairing, installing, maintaining of tolling systems; participates in performing the most complex work of the unit including the more complex installation/maintenance assignments as well as administrative support duties. Trains assigned employees in their areas of work including construction, maintenance, and repair methods, procedures, and techniques. Supervises the use, care, and operation of installation/maintenance equipment that include heavy and light equipment. Verifies the work of assigned employees for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with best known standards and specifications; ensures adherence to safe work practices and procedures. Oversees and participates in the operation of a variety of construction, maintenance equipment, hand and small power tools, maintains assigned equipment; performs preventive maintenance on equipment. Drives and operates vehicles and other motorized equipment on City streets and at off-road construction sites; performs maintenance and minor repairs of assigned equipment. Uses chemicals and other supplies as required during treadle installations. Inspects and evaluates potential job sites to determine the resources necessary for project completion; estimates time, materials, and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisitions materials as required. Prepares and maintains records and reports of work performed; uses computer to access information and enter work reports and other data. Reads, interprets and explains directions, construction sketches and equipment manuals. Responds to customer inquiries in a courteous manner; provides information within the area of assignment; resolves complaints in an efficient and timely manner. Utilizes proper safety precautions related to all work performed. Performs vacation and temporary relief as necessary. Qualifications Knowledge of: Operations, services and activities of assigned installation/maintenance and repair program. Methods, techniques, tools, equipment and materials utilized in assigned area. General construction and maintenance procedures. Principles of lead supervision and training. Safety principles and practices related to Installation/Maintenance and Operations projects and materials. Proper procedures used in the maintenance and repair of power equipment, hand tools, and motorized equipment used in construction and maintenance. Basic office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and supporting software applications. Principles and practices of record keeping. Principles and practices of customer service. Effective leadership methods. Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
